Tour Description

Experience the True Taste of Roman Tradition

Discover the authentic flavors of Rome with this private cooking class dedicated to two of the city’s most beloved staples — roman antipasti and pizza. Set in one of In Rome Cooking’s stunning locations — either our 17th-century palazzo tucked behind Piazza Navona or our modern school steps from the Pantheon — this hands-on experience combines history, culture, and delicious simplicity.

Guided by a local, English-speaking chef, guests learn how to prepare the small bites and golden crusts that define Roman comfort food, all while enjoying Italian hospitality at its finest.

Begin with a Toast and Traditional Appetizers

Upon arrival, guests are welcomed with a glass of sparkling Prosecco and a selection of Italian snacks. The experience begins in true Roman style — relaxed, social, and centered around good food. Your chef will share the stories behind Roman beloved antipasti, revealing how these flavorful starters set the stage for the meal to come.

Master the Art of Fried Antipasti

In Rome, pizza is never served without a small feast of fried treats first. Under the guidance of your chef, you’ll prepare a variety of classic Roman appetizers that locals enjoy before diving into their main dish.

Learn to make perfectly golden supplì al telefono, Rome’s own tomato risotto croquettes that stretch their mozzarella cheese like a phone cord when broken in half. Discover how to stuff delicate zucchini flowers with anchovy and mozzarella before frying them to a light, crunchy perfection.

Depending on the season, you might also prepare carciofi fritti (fried artichokes) or a traditional bruschetta al pomodoro — toasted bread topped with ripe tomatoes, fragrant basil, and a drizzle of local olive oil.

Learn to Make Authentic Roman-Style Pizza

Once your antipasti are ready, it’s time to roll up your sleeves and make your own pizza from scratch. Following the techniques passed down through generations, you’ll learn how to mix, knead, and stretch the perfect dough using simple, local ingredients — flour, yeast, olive oil, and a touch of patience.

Your chef will guide you through preparing a rich, flavorful tomato sauce and then help you choose your favorite toppings: from spicy salami and creamy mozzarella to roasted peppers and fresh basil. Whether you prefer a classic pizza margherita, a bianca brushed with olive oil and rosemary, or your own creative combination, every pizza reflects your personal Roman taste.

Enjoy a Roman Feast in Style

After cooking, sit down in our elegant dining room and enjoy your homemade antipasti and pizza accompanied by wine and soft drinks. The atmosphere is intimate and welcoming, perfect for sharing laughter, stories, and a delicious meal together. Every bite celebrates the vibrant simplicity of Roman cuisine — dishes born from humble ingredients, transformed into something extraordinary.

The Perfect Private Experience

This private class is designed for travelers who want a more personal and flexible experience, whether as a couple, a family, or a small group of friends. Your chef tailors the pace and menu to your preferences, ensuring everyone gets hands-on time and expert guidance. It’s ideal as a late lunch or early dinner after a day exploring the Eternal City, offering the perfect balance between relaxation and authentic culinary immersion.
