    Cooking with Nonna

    Ask any Italian what their favorite food is and they’ll always qualify their answer with ‘della nonna’. Whether it’s handmade gnocchi, fat juicy polpette (meatballs) lavished in a rich tomato sauce or creamy, dreamy panna cotta to make any Italian swoon, recipes cooked as their grandmas made them carry a sacred place in the heart of Italian culinary culture.

    This 3-hour class equips you with all the know-how you need to conjure up real Italian cuisine. Spending a morning, afternoon, or evening with Rome’s favorite nonna, you’ll perfect the art of making two traditional dishes, topped off with some mouthwatering panna cotta. Want to learn more?     Enjoy a prosecco and antipasti reception

    Arriving at either our 17th-century palazzo next to Piazza Navona or our sleek, stylish school a stone’s throw from the Pantheon, you’ll be greeted with a warm reception of prosecco and antipasti-style snacks.

    This drinks and snacks reception provides the perfect opportunity to meet our nonna, your chef, before making your way into the kitchen.

    Perfect the art of making three Roman dishes

    Here’s where the fun starts. Following Nonna‘s expert guidance, you’ll get stuck into making and rolling out your own Italian gnocchi dough. Which sauces or fillings you use will depend on the time of year (we only source the freshest seasonal ingredients for our classes). But remember: you’re always welcome to specify if there’s a particular dish you’d like to learn.

    As well as this, you’ll master the art of Italian meatballs: a classic that’s loved throughout the world. The perfect accompaniment to scrumptious gnocchi, this is the perfect introduction to Italian cuisine. But we’re not done yet – dessert is yet to come!

    Conjure up a mouthwatering panna cotta to accompany your mains

    When in Rome, learn a sinfully sweet recipe to bring back home! Your nonna will share her secret to the perfect panna cotta. Craft this creamy, dreamy dessert from scratch before sitting yourself down at the dining table to indulge on what you’ve created.

    Indulge in your meal with a choice of local wines, beers or coffee

    At the end of this unique and unforgettable experience, you’ll have a chance to linger over a lunch or dinner of what you prepared in class. Accompanied by a wide selection of soft and alcoholic drinks to suit every taste.

The small group size made it much more personal and conversation flowed all evening! Sara (our guide) was absolutely amazing - so friendly and chatty, and so full of knowledge about the local food and Rome/Trastevere's history. She could not have been better.
    I'll be coming back to Rome and will definitely be booking this again. Thank you so much, Sara, for making my first trip to Rome that much better!

We got to try a ton of... read moreMy fiance and I capped off our first full day in Rome with this lovely food tour. Luca was friendly, excited, and knowledgeable. We got to try a ton of different food and even returned to one of the restaurants later in the week. The tour groups are kept small, so our group easily got to know each other throughout the tour. We were especially pleased with how accommodating it was: My fiance is a vegetarian and can be a bit of a picky eater, so he had low expectations going in and this ended up being his favorite activity all week! We actually had a couple of vegetarians in our group and there was always an equally hearty substitute whenever necessary. Super pleased with this experience and with Luca!
