Who We Are
The story of InRome Cooking Classes is one of family, tradition, and the timeless joy that comes from sharing a meal. Its roots reach deep into the heart of Rome, where Gilda and Lorenzo Barberi ran the historic restaurant Il Passetto, just steps from Piazza Navona. For decades, Il Passetto was a beloved Roman institution, a place where the aromas of home filled the air: slow-braised lamb simmering for hours, handmade ravioli laid out on wooden boards, and the comforting sound of plates and laughter weaving together in the dining room.
It was in that kitchen, surrounded by cherished family recipes, that Marilena and Salvatore grew up. Cooking, for them, was never just a skill; it was a way of life. Over time, they transformed their parents’ legacy into something timeless: a place where travelers can live the true Italian spirit through food, InRome Cooking Classes. More than a cooking school, it became a place where travelers can experience the true Roman spirit through food, hands-on, heartfelt, and rooted in authenticity. Today, inside beautifully restored historic venues near Piazza Navona and the Pantheon, guests from around the globe gather to roll fresh pasta, taste local wines, and discover the flavors that define Roman cuisine. Each class is a moment of connection: hands working side by side, stories exchanged over the counter, friendships sparked between flour-dusted smiles and celebratory toasts.
